The White Swan, in the heart of Charlton Village, has been a cherished part of our South London community since Victorian times.  This historic pub, once the White Swan Inn, has hosted generations of families and seen countless friendships made, just part of what makes it a vital space for our South London community.

Despite its rich history, the White Swan closed its doors in 2020, contributing significantly to a decline in the vibrancy of Charlton Village. Since the closure, the current owners' actions  have done nothing to prevent rapid dilapidation and the loss of a central gathering place. This decline has affected local businesses and footfall in the village.

White Swan Music and Arts (WSMA) are a collective of residents and community groups dedicated to reviving this iconic pub. Our mission is clear: to see the reopening of the White Swan, and its restoration as a hub for the arts, culture, and community engagement.

WSMA envisions the White Swan as a self-sufficient arts and neighbourhood space, contributing to the economic regeneration of Charlton Village.

Our goal is not only to restore the pub element but to create a thriving cultural center that benefits everyone. From diverse cultural programs to inclusive community initiatives, we want the White Swan to be the beating heart of Charlton, bringing people together to celebrate, connect, and contribute to the flourishing of Charlton Village.
